Techniques in the glass painting studio:
Introduction
To answer the substantially changing conditions for glass applications in modern architecture and interior decoration, the company established glas + räume, a daughter enterprise.
Glas + räume deals exclusively with the experimental conversion of glass design using a range of constantly developing technical innovations.
From consultation with artist, architects and home-owners, to the realisation of all conceivable aspects of glass design, up to selling works of glass art, glas + räume exists as a "complete service" company.
With the establishment of glas + räume, a network of partners has been developed in order to offer our clients complete solutions, corresponding to current developements.
Standards os safety glazings, fire protection standards, modern cutting techniques and realisation of glass design or, for instance, Photovoltaic, become topics with which the enterprise concerns itself intensivley.
Silkscreening

|
Silk screening gives you the opportunity to transfer every graphic or photographic pattern through a photo technical method onto a
riddle/filter screen as well as surface printing can be printed on glass by using black vitrious paint or other enamels. After printing
they will be fired at 600 degree Celsius in the kiln.

Photovoltaic
The connection of solar cells (now available in different colours) and glass designs is both aesthetic and ecological.

Fusing
Here different materials of glass like strings, frittes or enamels, sometimes external materials like wire or metall foil can be melted
with a basic glass. Behind this modern method one of the oldest glass refinements is hidden: 4000 years ago the people used this
method to fuse glass objects

Etching
We flashed antique glass, in which the first layer is taken off withhydrofluoric acid.
When etching extensive, the parts which shouldn't get etched are covered with special foils. To achievepicturesque effects
one uses different paints to cover the glass.

Sandblasting
Sandblasting offers different design opportunities like sand carving or different thicknesses of pales.

Liquid glue
Connected with liquid glue glasses of two or more layers fulfill the qualification of laminated safety glass. Even coloured fillings are
possible.

Floatglass painting
Due to the improvements of kiln it is not just possible to paint large glasses with ceramic enamels, but through burning they can be
refined to a safety glass. Our largest kiln has the size of 2,70 x 3,80 metres.

Stained Glass
The tradition of the glass painting studio forms an artistic unit of colourful calibre, painting with black vitrious paint, silver stain,
ceramic enamels and pieces which are put together with different sorts of lead.

Adhesive method
By using several new types of glue like UV-glue, two-component-glue etc. it is possible to glue different glasses permanent and invisible.
